NGM employs approximately fifty (50) full time personnel. We have a vibrant interactive work experience program designed for local students enrolled at the Tafe Colleges, located in either Bentley or Fremantle, who are studying textiles and garment design.
We also undertake apprenticeship schemes and work experience for schools. Our team consists of a range of highly experienced personnel who are discussed in further detail below:
Alan Buckingham (Managing Director) Alan is a professionally trained cutter who has worked in the specialist area of shirt manufacturing for almost forty four (44) years. Alan was trained through an apprenticeship in London and progressed to owning his own garment manufacturing business in London for nine (9) years. He moved to Australia in 1989 under the Business Migration Policy and purchased Nell Gray Manufacturing.
Karen Vincent (General Manager) Karen has worked in the TCF sector for twenty five (25) years in South Africa managing several garment factories including Lesotho Clothing for twelve (12) years who manufactured the “Instinct” surf wear brand; Mr. Price National Distribution facility for eight (8) years; and Karen ran her own successful clothing business for five (5) years.
Harvey Smithers (National Sales Manager) Harvey has been employed within the TCF sector in Australia for the past thirty (30) years. Harvey’s extensive sales and marketing skills have been acquired from previous employment as a Sales Manager at Charles Parsons for five (5) years and through managing his own successful business Corporate Profile.
Nigel Evans (Operations Manager Uniform Concepts) Nigel has over 32 years experience in the retail and banking sectors, specialsing in Project and Inventory management and systems implementation. Nigel’s retail background encompasses retailers the like of Coles, Woolworths, Myer, David Jones and fashion label Gazman. His experience with visual merchandising has allowed shop layouts and designs to take on a new dimension.
Zina Micelli (Production Planning Manager) Zina has a Diploma in Clothing and Textile Design and has been employed at NGM for the past seven (7) years. Her primary role is garment design and development and scheduling of all production within the Perth factory.
Ruwan Gunaratne (Production Manager) Ruwan has studied textiles and garment production in addition to business management. He was previously employed by Beximco Fashions as their Production Manager, managing thirty three (33) management personnel and twelve hundred (1200) factory personnel on the production floor for twelve (12) years, whose major customer was Van Heusen.
Emidia Viadis (Local Production Manager) Emidia joined the company in 1989. Emidia emigrated from Portugal and previously was in production making suits.
Emidia has over 40years in the trade.
Richard Kerr (Local Trouser Manufacturing) Richard has maintained the family name in the clothing business; Richards’s grandfather formed Perth Trouser in 1930. His father Eric Kerr made the Perth Trouser company the largest trouser manufacturers in Australia from 1960 through to 1995.
